Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) will hold a by-election for President on May 27, 2026. The successful candidate will hold the office until the conclusion of NTI Presidential election in December 2028.
To be eligible to vote you must be an Inuk enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement or eligible to enrol and be at least 16 years old on May 27, 2026.
The nomination period will open Wednesday, April 15 and close on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
Nomination forms for interested Candidates will be available from the Chief Returning Officer (CRO), Joe Adla Kunuk, their Community Liaison Officers (CLO), Ayaya Communications
(Office of the CRO) on Wednesday, April 15 at 9:00 am EDT, or from NTI’s website as of Wednesday, April 15 at 12 a.m. EDT.
If you are interested in being a Candidate, a criminal record check within the past three months is mandatory. Potential nominees are encouraged to start this process with the RCMP immediately. Nomination papers must be filed with the CRO no later than April 21, 5 p.m. local time.
Candidates are responsible for ensuring that nomination papers are filed in accordance with NTI’s Election Rules and Procedures and delivered by the deadline. If nomination papers are not received by the deadline, a potential candidate will not be permitted to run as a candidate in the NTI elections.
